Are You Drawn to the Wild?
by dbarefoot | January 25, 2012The Big Wild and Canadian songstress Sarah Harmer invites you to contribute to a new version of Sarah’s video and protect part of the Niagara Escarpment at the same time.
The video comes from a documentary and concert film, "Escarpment Blues", which features Sarah and her band touring across southern Ontario. Inspired by The Johnny Cash Project, Drawn to the Wild aims to raise awareness about threatened Canadian landscapes.
Sarah's passion for this wild space not only shows through her video work and music, it shows through her words: "the Niagara Escarpment's survival as a unique natural environment is seriously threatened. Drawn to the Wild is one way Canadians can both support its protection and collaborate with me and each other in a fun and creative way."

Facebook has officially unveiled Timeline, a new tool that allows users to customize their home page and fill in their profile with events spanning their entire life starting with the day they were born.
Part of the new Timeline feature is the custom cover photo you can add to your profile. Here at The Big Wild, we've created a series of cover photos which we've pulled from our campaign archives. Simply click on your favourite cover photo, below. You will be taken to our cover photo gallery in flickr. Right click the photo to download. Photo Caption Contest
by theolamb | December 28, 2011The week before Christmas we ran a nature photo caption contest on The Big Wild Facebook Fan Page and everyone who posted was entered to win a Big Wild t-shirt. By the end of the week we had given away five t-shirts and read through more than 125 captions. We've selected some of our favourites which we've featured above each photo.

One Step for the Flathead River Valley
by theolamb | November 21, 2011The first of three steps toward total wilderness protection in the Flathead River Valley is complete.
British Columbia's provincial government has awarded the "Flathead Watershed Conservation Act" the Royal Assent. A little over a year ago, we rejoiced when the law was first proposed and a “memorandum of understanding” was signed between BC and Montana leaders in February, 2011. That understanding is now official. According to the new law, coal mining and methane gas extraction is forbidden in the Flathead River Valley.
Big Wild Bucks Wraps Up

The Wolverine Way

Author and National Geographic contributor, Doug Chadwick, is someone who has invited Canadians to consider and protect the Flathead River Valley by way of the wolverine.
