We're (finally!) ready to announce the winner for April's 'Singing in the Rain' contest. Can we get a drum-roll, please?

 

Congratulations to Michael Kundu, author of Orcas in the Mist, the story of a kayaking adventure on the Haro Strait in 1999. Orcas is a lovely story – touching, graceful, and thought-provoking. Great work, Michael – we hope you enjoy your new jacket as much as we enjoyed your writing :)

 

Our sincere thanks goes out to everyone who shared their stories and photos in the contest. They're very impressive! We asked for your stories and photos involving rain, and we very well could have received a lot of sad and dreary tales of woe. Instead, we almost invariably got stories of folks finding ways to stay happy and have fun in the rain – to overcome, accept, or even celebrate the weather for what it is, and have a good time all the while. You sure are an inspiring bunch!

 

We're busily preparing to judge the entries for our May photo contest, which we hope to announce soon. In the meantime, why not enjoy some of our favourite entries from 'Singing in the Rain'? Here's a short list of other entries that caught our eye:
