STOP TO SCRATCH!

STOP TO SCRATCH!

My partner, son and I hiked up to the top of Mount Work not to long ago. On the way up we were aware of all the Ravens hanging out at the tree tops and soaring about. We had brought a healthy picnic  with us (roasted chestnuts and vegi. sticks) and stopped at the top to have our snacks. As we sat down to have a bite, a few Ravens settled themselves near by, then came a couple more, then a few more, with the odd one flying by us eying us up. No doubt as the third or fourth one had flown by and they were hovering above us in the trees like vultures we were becomming a little intimidated. That was, until one particular Raven (that had flown by us several times) stopped in mid - flight, about 12 feet out  in front of us, lifted his leg and gave himself a good scratch on the back of his head, collected its self and continued on to a close by fir tree.

My partner and I laughed, looked at one another and said "never seen that before".
