In early October of 2009 I had the experience of my life on my first paddling trip - The Bowron Lake Circuit.
I was working in Northern BC as an actor for the summer in Barkerville which is only 30 minutes away from the Bowron. At the end of the summer two fabulous friends of mine set out for the adventure that awaited us!
Three is an odd number (no pun intended) for a paddling trip, but it worked out quite well because we rented a three person canoe. We split the rental fee 3 ways and it was very affordable! October was a bit chilly and we ran into some snow on our first night, but in my opinion I would rather have cold weather than mosquito bites. We also rented some canoe cart wheels to strap on the bottom of our canoe which made the portages much easier.
We were surrounded by some beautiful BC mountains whilst paddling for 7 straight days. We met some VERY interesting people, and we had some pretty good weather.
All in all, it was great and an experience that I will treasure forever! I encourage everyone to put it on their bucket list and make it happen! Getting in touch with yourself and BC's beauty can enrich your life in so many ways.
