So there I was, biking across Canada, at that point between McBride, BC, and wherever the transcanada highway would take me.
It was absolutely drenching wet, reminscent of the first day I began my four month trek. Thoughts were pouring through me as bad as the rain, about my trip, life, and the fact that I was now laughing out loud.
I remembered distinctly the thoughts as I started the first few pedals on my 8600km journey: "You have to be happy....you have to be happy" It was great advice that couldn't have been more applicable in any situation. Little did I know, it would be useful in many more similar scenarios.
With that grand reminder in my head, a smile crept over my face. What started out as a slight whisper to no one became a full blown, off key opera as I began singing that wonderful tune, "I'm siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinging in the rain, just siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinging in the rain!"
With cars rushing pass, I gave them an enthusiastic thumbs up and a smile ear to ear. I could only imagine the families on vacation, parents explaining to their young children why there was a laughing man biking and singing in the downpour. Until they were on a bike and sopping wet themselves, they would never understand what was going on in "the crazy mans head"
